Description
We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on, and skilled Assistant Controller. This role will provide extensive support to our Controller and VP of Finance while leading the accounting team and promoting a positive, collaborative and accountable team culture.

As the Assistant Controller, you will:
  • Direct a timely and accurate month-end close
  • Maintain accurate balance sheet schedules
  • Manage, develop and lead staff while maintaining an engaging and accountable team culture that expects high performance, and enables employees to succeed and grow
  • Supervise the daily functions of the payables and receivables sectors
  • Support and guide general ledger accounting team members
  • Process bi-weekly payroll, including related tax filings, garnishments, employee inquiries and support
  • Process employee commissions and incentives
  • Oversee and ensure federal, state and local tax and regulatory compliance
  • Fixed asset management
  • Treasury and cash management
  • Preparation of financial statements
  • Assist in supporting schedules for annual budget and ongoing analysis of performance against budget
  • Ad-hoc financial analyses and metric reporting to support strategic decision-making
  • Identify and execute measures to increase departmental efficiencies and process improvements
  • Provide leading support for audits and year-end close
  • Daily journal entries as needed
  • All other duties as assigned

Required Skills:
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of accounting systems
  • Professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills

Qualifications for this role include:
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting is required; CPA is preferred
  • 5+ years of Senior Accounting experience in a $150M+ corporate accounting environment
  • 3+ years of Inventory Accounting experience
  • 3+ years of leadership experience
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost control principles
  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Experience with multi-state tax filing
  • Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
  • Working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting, rolling budgets, and product-line profitability analysis
